I'm thinking about going SLI with two BFG 8800GTs I'm only using a 19inch LCD; how much of a performance difference will I notice?

Depends on the game and your resolution. Most 19's native resolutions are not high enough to tax a single GT.

you are better off keeping that 1 gt now, and getting a next gen high mid range card later on. i also dont like the single slot design of the gt's, as putting them in sli will create tons of heat in your case as they blow hot air into your case unless you have really good case airflow.

Are you actually having trouble running games with such a small monitor?

or do you just feel like wasting money?

I have 8800GTs in SLI. Honestly, have not really officially tested (as in full benchmarks) in different games.

I can tell you that it runs games like UT3 and Call of Duty 4 PERFECTLY at max AF and 4x AA at 1920x1200.

At your monitor resolution, I honestly think you might be better off with one overclocked 8800GT. The current boost from SLI is probably only about 15-35% according to most benchmarks.

one GT should max out everything on a 19inch monitor.
With maybe the exception of crysis... which wouldn't get much better on SLI.

Now if you had a 24 inch widescreen at 1920x1200 like I do then you will really need SLI...

But by doing that he'll need a quad 8800gt to run demanding games.

FYI with a 22" @ 1680 x 1050, single 8800gt crysis doesnt run fantastic but still better than a 24" @ 1900 x 1200.
