Atitool is all greyed out and won't allow me to change anything. I've been digging around the past couple of days since I got a new card and so far I cannot find anything explaining exactly what is needed to OC in vista 64.
Why is oc'ing a video card such a project? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'm used to using nvtweak and that isn't an option anymore

I vaguely recall reading something about ATITool not working properly with newer nVidia drivers and cards that have unlinked shader clocks (like your 8800). You should try RivaTuner.

Thanks!

How far should I expect my OC with an xfx 800gt 512mb

Right now its at:

Core: 720
Mem: 998
Shader: 1800

Using ati tool to scan and also checking with gpu-z

I believe it wont work because Vista 64 requires signed drivers, and im pretty sure ATI tool doesnt have signed drivers.

You can disable requiring signed drivers at boot up, but its not recommended, and you would have to do it every time you want to overclock.

Correct me if im wrong. Thats just what I remember from when i messed around with vista.

Does ATI tool still have an unsigned Vista 64 driver? If so, the only way you will get that working is to use the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" option each session using the F8 menu. You will need to install the driver while running in this mode as well.
