8800gt or an ati 4850

I want a new card but cant decide what card to get.Iam thinking about an 8800gt or an ati 4850.Could someone help me out on what card would be the better out of the two.Thanks

As others have pointed out, the 4850 is easily the better of the two cards you've mentioned.

Is there any particular reason you are looking at those two specific cards? Because they're not even really of the same generation. The 8800GT is one generation behind the 4850. If anything, you should be looking at an Nvidia 9800 GTX+/GTS 250 vs an ATI HD 4850.

the new RV740 will be almost as fast as a HD4850 for the price of a HD4830 though, so if you are only looking to buy right now, the RV740 may be out by the time you are actually ready to buy.

If you want performance, the 4850 is a better card. If you have someone who is upgrading and is willing to part with their 8800GT for $50-60, then that might be a better deal.

If you want good advice, you need to provide more information about your needs/wants/etc.
