8800gt only working with vga cable

I have an evga 8800gt that isn't putting out a dvi signal through the dvi port, I can only get it to work analog. Is there a way to make the other dvi port default as the first monitor so I can use that side? I don't ever plan on using two monitors, so I'd like to avoid trying the warranty option.

You will have to go into the nVidia Control Panel (under set up multiple monitors) and Enable a second clone monitor on the DVI port. Once the DVI port is working, disable the clone monitors (on analog) and choose DVI as your default.

Alternatively, you can boot in to safe mode using DVI and make these settings.

Nah you got it all wrong my friend. I think your card is fine. Its only accepting VGA maybe because of the input,, try VGA to DVI converter and try both inputs see if you get nice picture. gl

If not, then use Driver Sweeper from www.guru3d.com and clean the nvidia drivers and install the latest WHQL drivers from their site. gl

I had the same problem today and resolved it. The ironic part was, immediately after fixing it; I stumbled on to his thread.
