is it possible to mod a video card bios from within windows, or without having to use a cdrom or floppy startup disk?
 
You mean flash your bios?

You can easily edit a bios within Windows. You can probably flash it too depending under circumstances.
 
The latest winflash can not recognize the 8800GT. This may change. For now you have to flash outside of windows and can use a flash drive instead of floppy/CD.

You want the bootable USB files from the first post. Also, get nvflash 5.57 here.

Use NiBiTor to edit the file from within windows.

Modification of clockrates and setting the voltage VID to 1.1 under 'Extra' are pretty much all you should change.
 
yeah i would like to voltmod the bios for the 8800gt and flash from within windows. I've got nvflash, nibitor, & rivat. I've edited the bios taken from the card, but want to flash it now to get the 1.1 volts on the vgpu. Can i flash from within windows?
 

What does the voltage do for you? Is the 1.1 volts a higher or lower standard voltage, and how would it affect the heat generated by the card?
 
1.1 is higher, would generate more heat, but allow the shaders and core to clock higher without artifacting. same principle behind a cpu overclock.
