Hello anandtech users!

noobie user here with (I think) a newbie question or two. Mind if i pick your brains?

Firstly, i'm thinking about purchasing a Dell 2407WFP-HC to replace my Samsung 931BW. I run an AGP version of the 6600GT that has a VGA port and (from what I can tell) and DVI-I (Dual Link) port. Will this card display the natural res of 1920x1200 of the Dell? Will it do it but have an adverse affect on my system?

Secondly, i'm replacing my current PC with a new one, and will hopefully get dual 24" monitors (including the abovementioned Dell - should I buy it). Will an 8800GT or GTS512 run both monitors at their native resolutions? i.e Is the 2560x1600 max res for each DVI-D port or for the two of them combined?

Thanks for any help!

It'll do both monitors at their native resolutions without issue.

Heck, even my x800 2xDVI from 3 years ago ran both my 24" dell monitors at 1920x1200.

if both monitors have the same resolution it should not be a problem. Running 2 different resolutions (I have 1366x720 27" and a 1600x1280 20") is a pain.

Used to have both monitors set up with the 850xtpe ATI card. Worked great while playing world of warcraft. One screen was dedicated to only the visuals and the other monitor had all the other stuff like chat and combat logs, maps, opened bags, extra bars and all the other stuff I didn't want to block my view while fighting.

Got the 8800 GTS and not so great. Ended up with just playing the game on one and other was for browsing and stuff. Just couldn't get it to work. I have since quit playing wow, so I dont' know if the new nvidia software is any better than it was a year ago.
