8800gt fan header

This is a bit of a cross over subject into cooling, but, I'm planning on replacing the stock fan on my 8800gt with a Thermalright HR-03 GT and a 92 or 120mm fan. The only problem is that my motherboard does not have onboard fan headers. This is in a Mac Pro and, of course, Apple assumes (and discourages) any sort of modding. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using the card's four pin onboard fan header for powering non-standard fans and how to go about that.
