8800GT and AF filtering

When I set AF to 16x on any game , anywhere from the time I start to just a few minutes into the game the screen just artifacts, and I get a hard lock up. Has anyone else had this trouble? No other setting gives me any trouble, just the AF filter. It does it in Fear Multiplayer and Bioshock running in DX9 mode. The sound still plays, and its not looping, but my monitor looses signal and I have to reboot. Any ideas?

I use it fine...or was using it fine because now my games are crashing for different reasons....I think my case is memory related based on my stop error x0000008e but prior to this I was using 16x and no problems.

It turns out it was not my AF but my memory clocks. They were set at 1900 and when playing DX9 games it would hard lock. The funny thing is, it would play Crysis, and run 3dmark 06 without any problems. Strange.

Does AF make much use of memory to do its calculations? Maybe that was just the straw that broke the camels back.

That may be the case. I tried turning down the AF, but that made no difference at this point. I had to restore my factory clocks to run Fear and Bioshock in DX9 mode. I am going to investigate further.

mine is oc'ed and i would get artifacts and occasional freezing if i forgot to turn the gpu fan up while gaming. the temps were fine in ntune, but i guess that's not enough to go by.

I was running with mine on 90%. My temps did not reach 60. I wish it was something that easy. I have everything running in an Antec Nine Hundred case with all the fans on high.

Interesting you should say it was related to your memory. After reading JohnnyGuru's comment Here (discussion in this XS thread) it looks like there is a *possibility* *something* could be up with higher memory speeds from some manufactures on the GT's. Might just be a one off or a bad batch though.
