8800GT allredy in stores!!!

Mor-Levi is a well known importer to the poeple who need to know 😉 and trustworthy when it comes to information.

the stated price is 1490 NIS after taxes so:

1490 / 1.155 = 1290 / 4 = 322$ before tax. thats expensive! but then again, the cheapest 8800GTS 320 is 400$ in Israel...

anyway, the page does not contain any information about the product. so this must be a pre-order and so no NDA is broken plus i dont think they signed any NDA.

in other words, the're bluffing, but not lying.

EDIT: and now the page is gone. i guess they understood their mistake and its possible implications.

It depends what else you have in your system rig. I'd probably go with the 430w just to be on the safe side. Thats just me though. I'd rather have too much than not enough when it comes to a psu.

Well I tested my 8800 GTS 640MB with 3 years old Fortron 350W and system worked in load mode. Although my Fortron screamed like load was too much 😀. Now this 8800 GT 512MB should consume like 75% of that what 8800 GTS consumes. and both of those PSU's are much better than I had.

Note: This Fortron 350W were just temporary solution for one day. Then I got BeQuiet Straight Power 450W and I just love this PSU.

the 380 has pretty decent 12v rails......

i would think it could do it depend on what else you have. i mean if your cpu is say a pentium D 840 or a b3 step quad core, then maybe at the top of load it might have a problem but i still think it'd be enough as long as you didnt have like 5 hard drives.

430w is probably safer and more future proof, but if you don't have one of those cpus listed by hans then you'll be able to get away with 380w as a cheap temporary solution until you do a full system upgrade.

hx 520 is very nice, but it's also $90 shipped AR from clubit. $40 for an earthwatts 430 is probably more than enough for his rig.

Reviews of some other PSUs:

Personally I'd go with at least the 430, and really I'd look to see if you
can find that the EarthWatts 500 or another well (and thoroughly) reviewed
PSU of slightly higher capacity regularly goes "on sale" for prices you'd
consider attractive at places like Fry's / outpost.com / newegg.com or wherever.

I've seen prices down around $39-$49 several times on EarthWatts
500 and 550 range PSUs every few months from Fry's / outpost, for instance.

The fact that you want to use an 8800GT suggests you're probably into
fairly demanding gaming or similar pursuits, and those kinds of situations
really stress the temperature and power load in a computer.

While the actual "under load" average power of your system may well be in the
350W to 450W range, in such a hypothetical case you'll have very little margin
for "spikes" of unusually high load, excessive overclocking, excessive temperatures,
and aging. Usually it's a bad idea to run a PSU "normally" (i.e. gaming for
hours at a time often) at loads well higher than 80% of its rated output
wattage. It can be done, but usually it'll function less well, have a shorter
life-span, and be less reliable in power quality.

Many common bad quality PSUs are actually utterly unable to function correctly
past 80% of their marketed "capability", and can actually harm your computer
due to their failures.

The Earthwatts 430 seemed to get nice reviews (read for yourself), so I'd
consider it the minimum acceptable choice if your system load is calculated to be
in the area of 400W or somewhat less range.

For some configurations you might squeak by on a very high quality 380W
unit, though I'd be uncomfortable trying without seeing actual independent
reviews on how that PSU functioned at 90% to 100% of rated load in warm
environments while meeting the voltage and ripple requirements.

512mb version shown here in US for $243.22

that's a good sign!
it's showing OOS, either they only had a couple or they just put up the icon a few days early. that's a great price!
Not suprising price.. if this can be sold with 235? in Sweden (Swedish krone ->?) then this should cost less than $250 in USA..graphics cards are Very expensive in Sweden.

What date is the 8800GT officially supposed to be available? Is that available for purchase or to partners/distributors?
