A faster G80 derivative + new XP drivers would be sweet. :thumbsup:

No, Not a trick question...Look at the numbers, unless im reading it wrong.....

NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0191.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX"
NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0193.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS"
NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0194.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra"
NVIDIA_G80.DEV_019E.1 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600"
NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0400.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS"
NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0402.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT"
NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0421.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT"
NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0422.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS"
NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0423.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS"

The lowest number which is 0191.1 is the GTX. Seems to me ( could be wrong ) that the slower the card gets, the number raises a little. Which if this is correct, it'll be a little slower than the GTS.

Enlighten me on what those numbers mean ?

That list clearly isn't in descending order of power. The 8600GTS would be slower than the 8600GT. The 6800 Ultra was the fastest 6800, so why wouldn't the 8800 Ultra be the fastest 8800?

It makes sense to me if the Ultra is on the same process with more RAM, maybe GDDR4, and higher core/RAM clocks.

Similar to 7800GTX >> 7800GTX 512MB (took ~4 months)
8800GTX >>8800 Ultra (~4 months)

This would allow nvidia to get down the reduced process for 8900GTX to be ready sometime in the fall.

8900GTX will be a smaller process, similar to 7800GTX >> 7900GTX (took about 10 months IIRC).

Yeah...that makes sense to me

Yeah, this is probably just a release to pee in the R600's cornflakes. It will be limited and expensive but it may keep the crown until the 8900 is released.

It seems like Nvidia is set to rule at all the popular price points and even in between too.

I have no idea what I should upgrade my X850XT to....

Probably another 7800GTX 512MB, very expensive, essentially nonexistent but fastest single card around.
