8800 GTX Runs True Crime-NY Very Poorly, Any Ideas?

My 8800 GTX runs everything I throw at it very well with high frames rates and all settings pretty much maxed out except True Crime-New York. The original True Crime-LA ran crappy on my other PC too.

The game is not that great to begin with but I don't understand it running at about 30FPS when other games run anywhere from 50-175 FPS at max settings depending on the game. There is no display settings in True Crime other than resolution which I found odd. I guess I should chalk it up to poorly written or ported PC game?

Yep, that'd be my guess. That and there might be a driver confliction.

But, is the game's frame rate locked at 30? Does it increase or decrease much from that mark?

True Crime is supposed to be mired with technical problems, including slowing down machines which are far better than the system requirements. I wouldn't feel bad.
