Tha latest Nvidia Vista64 driver seem to have resolved the massive performance penalty hit when you do 3D gaming on the 2nd monitor. Initial observation from WoW indicates a 100% improvement on Vista64 over XP Pro. XP's dualview performance is crippled beyond belief. At least now, I have a reason to boot up Vista64 from time to time. HAHA!
Preliminary performance observation from 2 simultaneous WoW instances/windows:
Under Vista64 -
1920x1200: 25 to 100+ fps (very complex to easy scenes)
1280x1024: 30 to 100+ fps
E6600 3.4GHz: About 90-100% max load. Even though Vista is running more loaded than XP, its response feel is nearly instant. A bit more responsive than XP under same situation I'd say.
Under XP -
1920x1200: About 50 fps max and goes down from there.
1280x1024: About 30 fps max and goes down from there.
E6600 3.4GHz: About 70-80% max load
All gfx options maxed on WoW instances. No AA.
I have a Q6600 G0 coming next week. I am hoping Vista64's performance will increase further if the load status is indicative of a CPU-bounded limit. Will let ya know!
