Anyone know how they compare?
I'm currently deciding between the two.

i say 8800GTS will be 125 - 150% better in most games.

Just wait couple more hours and reviews should be showing up, if not tomorrow

:smackshead:

Wait a tiny bit longer for the reviews. ;)

edit:

And I guarentee it's better at DX10 games.

edit2:

And I guarentee it's got better image quality in DX9 games.

Well....

It's £100 difference at the mo.
Which is a BIG difference.

Still cant decide ebtween the GTS and the GTX.
I've already sold my 7950 GX2.

So it's just a case of deciding whether to get another 7950 GX2, an 8800 GTS or spending the extra £100 for the 8800 GTX. My 7950 GX2 was just about right on performance, so if the GTS is as good or just a little better. It will do.

I think I'm going to go with the GTX model when the Feburary refresh comes out. By then the 8800GTX price will be lower right?

Dont be a victim of price gauging. Let the initial wave pass by and you can get the second batch of cards. ;)

The MSRP difference between GTX and GTS is a minicule $50 and you get a whole lot of performance for it.

And since you are upgrading from a GX2 I would say that the GTX would be a better upgrade.

The 7950GX2 is a faster card is games that support SLI. The GTS has better image quality, features, and compatability. The problem is the cost will not justify the performance. The GTS is a $450 card at best. But it will likely sell for well over $500. The GTS is only marginally faster than a 1950XTX. The GTX is an awesome card, however.

It all depends on how much an overclock will do for it. At stock, the 8800GTS is slower than the 7950GX2 (maybe it does better at higher resolutions/AA). Looks like some people have gotten it up to 650MHz core, which is a 30% increase over stock.

You didnt read my post lol.
In the UK it's a difference of £100!!!

That's nearly $200.

Also, I have no choice but to buy a new GPU as I've already sold my 7950 GX2 on eBay.
For a profit I might add.

So I need to make a choice today!
Otherwise I'll be without a GPU for days!

I read your post. I knew the pricing in US$, so I quoted that.

Since you are without a videocard you are in a sort of a pickle. :p You could get a GTS but it looks slower than a GX2 (from the early reviews), you could hope that Nvidia comes to the rescue with some *magic* drivers again.

In my PREVIEW I'm clearly bottlenecked by my A64 X2@FX60.

Next week I'm getting a Conroe 6600 that will do it much better for the GTS for sure.

Also drivers are very inmature right now...

Yeah, everybody are pointing at the drivers being the culprit. But then with immature drivers the GTX is insane, imagine it with proper drivers. :D

The profit you made on the GX2 might come handy, though it might not be enough. Just make sure the mofo fits your motherboard/case. ;)

No way, not al least the GTS

The GTS in my rig performs better than 7900GT SLI (520Mhz core) in most of the situations, and that is like a 7950GX2 but with out the SLI crap.

What do you mean in your rig?!
You already have one?

Also, I used to have 7900 GT SLI, but the 7950 GX2 is better, mainly due to the extra ram.

I have the GTS, and had the 7900GT SLI just 2 months ago (It appears in 3dMark part of the preview).
