8800 GTS SLI

My current rig in sig. I would like to get a little better performance in Oblivion and possiblly use AA. The x1900XT does very well at 1980X1200, although my fps do drop into the mid teens if I encounter a couple baddies in a heavy foliaged area. Mind you, I did tweak the crap out of my .ini file to achieve said performance. Most of the tweaks were memory related, but I did set it for less dense grass and also enbled sm 3.0 tweaks and dual core tweaks. I am also using the lod mod. My thinking is to get 1 now, and possibly a second one once they drop in price(when r600 comes out and eats the 8800 series for breakfast). Will 1 GTS be way better than my current card in oblivion

That's what I'm doing now.

It's easy for you to play the waiting game, you got crossfire X1900's on a 20 inch monitor. I got a single x1900 on a 24 incher

i have 2x 8800GTX... one problem you may face is trying fit in your case. Also nvidia is about to release a new updated revision in march so i would wait. Price will go download and better revision will be out and ofcourse ati will launch R600.

8800GTS SLI just seems like a halfbake. Unless you have unique space problems, why not 8800GTX SLI as if you willing to spend $900 on just videocards, why not make it a cool $1200?

Thanks for the linky, the way I see it there is a negligable performance increase between the X1900XTX and 8800GTS. Looks like I will just be satisfied with what I have and check out R600 when it debuts. If It's way too pricey then maybe it'll drive down the price of the GTX provided it is a superior product
