8800 GTS gaming error?

Ok basically, I have this very annoying error in CSS whereby there seems to be an invisible blockade on Dust2. Anything beyond it turns gradually in to a white hazey mist or outline.
And I cant make stuff out in the distance.

It's rather annoying.

Here are some screenies.

Haze 1

Haze 2

Firstly, I know, I'm running at very low resolution settings. That's because I'm pro and play in leagues etc. I like to keep my CSS graphics as simple as possible adn bland, so I have every little extra chance of spotting people and so on.
I have tried literally everything to rid myself of this problem. The haze that is. Re-writing my entire config, changing graphical settings, max, med, high, low, max AF AA, lowest AF AA you name it. Nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help?

Also, with HDR turned on in HL2: Episode 1, I got this.
Does it seem to be too hazy to you guys? It's the same even with 16xTRSSAA turned off completely. HDR + AA also seems to effect frame rate loads. Halfing it. As well as giving me this same hazeyness.

HL2 Episode 1 HDR haze

Are these all driver related problems?
Or in my settings. Can someone confirm whether they have the same errors with the older drivers? Because I'm using the 97.02 drivers.

Anyhelp would be much appreciated as these are the two games I play most.

Thanks

Half-Life 2 Lost Coast: GeForce 8800 GTX fog looks different than
GeForce 7900 GTX fog, and dynamic shadows look solid black.
The GeForce 8800 GTX image quality matches the Microsoft Reference
Rasterizer. This issue may affect other Half-Life 2 based engines such as
Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life Episode 1. NVIDIA is working with the
application developer to try to patch their application.

So is the error persistant in the earlier drivers?
Because I dont mind switching back to the ones the GPU came with.

I think your just gonna have to wait.
And why do the guns look like sh!t?
Turn up the fvck'n graphics please.
You have a 8800GTS, so go ahead and use the damn thing.

Edit:
So you play in leagues and stuff.
Still, turn up the graphics.

Exactly. What was the freaking point of getting a GTS?

I knew I'd get this :p

The point was to play every other PC game I own at max settings.
NOT css. Trust me I've played that game at every setting, with every kid of config set up, and the one I have it at now, gets me the best play.

I know it looks dreadful, but hit registration is optimum, and that's what I care about in official matches.

I'm not supposed to be :p
I have fps_max set at 101.

That server just blocked it. But it's always better to have one constant frame rate as appose to changing ones.

im sure ur graphics settings dont change ur hit detection at all esp when u getting 100+ frames. its more the server and ur ping and ur rates.
i play lot of css

servers are usually to blame on maps like nuke and inferno. all cal maps are great.

Nah, I dont know why, but it definately does.
I always notice a difference in my performance switching from max to low settings.
I dont know what it is.

I know technically speaking it shouldnt be a difference.
But it does make one none-the-less.

If it didnt, why would all the pro gamers always use the very lowest settings possible?

im not sure if they do use lowest settings or not. but im sure most of them use 800x600 or low res to make the bodies bigger = bigger target.

Because pro gamers are nuts? I don't know I just don't understand what enjoyment you would get from having a number. I know this is OT just had to get it out there.

As far as the problem Nvidia says their working on it and their drivers are usually top notch so I would just wait a bit.
