8800 GTS Driver Issue

All,

Just upgraded 90% of my system. New Asus AM2 Crosshair Mobo, 2GB OCZ Titanium DDR2 800 RAM, an AMD 5200+ 64-bit dual core processor, and today the eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640mb card.

My OS is Windows XP Pro, but I'm being told there is a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version. When I d/l the new nvidia drivers for XP, I get a hardware conflict from the vid card. Only way I was able to overcome this was to d/l the Windows XP Media Edition drivers for the 8800 GTS. Does this sound right?

Thanks for your time.

Don't let the "64" in your processor name fool you. Having an Athlon 64 does not mean you are to use 64-bit drivers. You could run a 64-bit OS with your processor, but it sounds as if you have the 32-bit version of XP. That's why it works with those drivers.
