I just got my 8800 GTS 640mb card and I want to oc it. at stock it sits at 500/1600 I wanted to know how far some of you were able to push your cards? I plan to oc it using ntunes since it supports vista 64 and it seems to be working on my pc right now and it allows me to adjust the gpu freq and mem clock freq manually.

Thanks!

Core should easily clock past 600MHz. Memory is hit or miss but 900MHz is still easy. However, the beauty of 8800 GTX/GTS is that NV balanced the core/memory speed quite nicely. At core speed 600MHz, memory speed past 900MHz will not gain you much. Core speed at 650MHz, 1000MHz+ memory speed will come in handy. Ideally, you'd want to match those 'OC' version of GTX speed - which commonly is 621/950.

When you oc a video card is it best to do it in small increments like you would with a cpu or just try the settings you are suggesting right away?

I could try 621/950 then jump to 675/1000

I read that I should keep the fan speed between 90%-100% for an oc card and under 85c is this true for 8800 GTS cards? Right now my card runs stock at 59c.

I was thinking the same as the OP, I might use Nvtune over the 3 hour option where it see's how far it can go stable, anyone had experiance with Nvtune?

I downloaded the ntuner and it allows you to adjust the gpu settings but even after adjustment the settings and the fan speed manualy it reverts back to the stock settings. I tried saving it to a new profile and even when I select the oc profile it doesn't go back to the oc settings. Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?
