I just starting using my 8800GT and Crysis came with the card, this game makes the 8800 seem like a inferior card, this cant run at high with fast frame rates. is this because of direct X 10 in Vista? seems like its not a good idea for a video card maker to include a game with there card that brings it to its knees, :D

Depending on the rez and options selected, there isn't a card that crysis won't give a hurting too.

I think crysis came out a bit to early, they should have just waited for the next gen cards to come out.

Could have said the same thing about Doom 3, too...no equipment existed that would run it on the highest settings when it came out.

I think it's the IHV's who are late in delivering new high end cards.

I think it's a well timed play on the consumer. Crysis' release date was pushed back from September to November. Both HW camps with refreshes, but neither with a single card solution to run Crysis. SLI or Crossfire, that's what you need. But wait, it's still not enough to maximize this gaming experience. To the rescue will be new product from both camps in a few short months. Already leaked are pics of X2 3870's and talk of new GTX's.

After enough mid-range cards are sold with the current refresh, and enough high end cards are sold with the next release, solid drivers and game patches will appear and we'll have conqured the Crysis challenge.

Whole economies are driven by a simple principle, consumers satisfying their needs, wants, and desires. If you watch carefully enough, you'll see how timing and availability play key roles. The goal is to maximize the number of units sold. It'd be foolish to think these things are not timed to accomplish that. It'd be even more foolish to think software and hardware companies are not collaborating on projections. Number of unit sold..

I don't think a new 65nm GTX or a 3870X2 will help Crysis too much, they still won't be able to play it at respectable framerates (40-60) DX10 'very High' @ 1920x1200 so I won't be paying top dollar yet......the wait begins for an R700 or a G100 or something. :(

Well at 1600x1200 I still get slightly over 31FPS avg running all VERY high except shadows and post under XP. It looks stunning like that. Thats the beauty of the CRT, I am not "forced" to any resolution.

hehe I agree op, it does seem like a contradiction doesn't it. heres your new shiny card, enjoy gaming at 15 fps :D

on the other hand, its a way to lure you into buying a new card. by giving you crysis they make sure you are not satisfied and leave you wanting more.

You're right. The connection between hardware and software makers is pretty obvious especially when you see specific games bundled in with that hardware. :)

Oblivion still doesn't stay above 30 FPS constantly with Qarl's Texture Pack 3 installed on my new GT. Still runs much better than my 6800, though.

*shrug* I've been playing Crysis at 1680x1050, high detail and 2xaa with a pretty decent frame rate.

Not true. You could play Doom 3 with 9700pro at the highest settings @ 1024 resolution @ 60fps.

The funny thing about Crysis is you can lower the settings to Medium and it still drags an 8800GT at times, which just makes it seem like the game is very unoptimized... like the map makers just didn't bother to properly optimize their maps, etc, because they knew the game would be billed the way it is (i.e. no current system can run it maxed out) so they could get away with it.
