So I got my PNY 8800GTS from the hot deal posted a few days ago.
I got it hooked up and turned everything on. I can hear my computer going into windows but my monitor remains in power saver mode.
Monitor is an older Sony Trinitron based CRT.
I am at a loss as to what to do, the monitor works fine and the card seems to be ok.
Any sugestions from the peanut gallery?

weird, you are just using the little dongle that came with it I assume?

I have no problems with mine doing analog out, course im using 2 DVI cables at the moment, ever since I got my 2407 as a main, bumped my 19 inch DVI to #2 and kicked the VGA 6 year old 17 inch LCD into the closet. However just using the little DVI->VGA adapter that came with it used to run that 17 incher just fine.

Can you put in the old card, disable any power management stuff, and then try it again? It has to be something with the mobo / BIOS settings.

Do you have the 6 or 8-pin aux power connected to the motherboard? Maybe it's not getting enough juice on the mobo side?? Just a thought.

What PSU are you using.

VGA cable from the monitor to the converter. The converter should be DVI-I/A.

Ok, it was just an idea :)

Have you tried a LCD or known working CRT with the card?

The CRT works fine with another card, I am going to borrow an LCD from work, but it only has VGA in no DVI. If those don't work I guess I can try my TV, it has HDMI in and I have a DVI->HDMI cable going from another computer to it.
Other than that I guess I will have to RMA the card. :(

Tried the DVI->HDMI cable on my tv. Same result, boots into windows but just get a blank screen.
I'm totally stumped now.

Edit: Tried it in another computer with a PCIe slot, same situation, boot but no video.

Have you tried both DVI ports? The primary port won't always be on the same side as your last card, and until you get the driver installed, the secondary port won't work at all.

Actually, try to exchange for another one from the store and tell them it was defective. They should replace a new one.
