I was actually thinking of doing a similar poll.

Ironically enough, i was just on the nVidia forums lol.
The whole first page is littered w/ Vista + 8800 issues  :frown:

I'd like an inbetween option. I don't have any HUGE problems with the nVidia drivers but I have several smaller problems that are annoying.

Do you think people would bother posting if their drivers were fine? The amount of people posting on forums in no way represents the amount who own cards... :disgust:

I think this poll will be effected by fanboys. Hell ATI owners will hit the poll just to continue to beat on nvidia drivers.

But seriously it has been crazy how many times people parrot Nvidia driver hate with a mob mentality.
They say things like Nvidia doesn't release enoupgh XP drivers for older gen...Then you ask them what game isn't running right under XP for you?
They say, I just want new drivers.

Sure they had problems, who hasn't needed some maturity for drivers.

It's the popular thing to bash these days. I find it funny how some of those people are ATI owners and are currently excusing ATI's bad drivers for tjhe 2900xt (which will become more widely known soon).

Edit: How many people even know how to do a proper clean install of drivers, people still don't know to uninstall the old many times and bring trouble on themselves.

The only bug I have that is annoying (there are broken features I guess like not being able to adjust overscan with HDCP enabled but I don't known an HD-DVD player or Bl-ray so it doesn't bother me) is that my computer won't play video files from Media Player after it resumes from standby. The screen is just black. However, if I restart the computer, video playback works again.

I actually dual boot. I don't see why anyone would install Vista and not dual boot.

Those who live on the wild side.

Vista isn't that bad actually, it'll become my primary OS in about a month. :D

I am running vista 64bit with the 158.24s.
I have no issues gaming once I get the games installed (some of the older ones give me trouble)
Things seem to run trouble free for me on my 8800gts 320.

actually *hearing* from the users is far more telling

if i were dishonest, i would hit "many errors" to skew your poll
[or based on what i hear from my friends ... i guess i could call them and ask them to sign up at ATF to post their experiences ... if i cared :p]

and if i *loved* nvidia i would hit 'zero errors' as no doubt many are doing without thinking twice

still ... useful ... evidently some are experiencing 'issues' with 8800

i look forward to a similar poll for HD-XT users
:)

in a few months ... and we can compare progress from nvidia also

Anyone wanna test portrait mode in their 8800s for me?

Last time i checked, in XP, there was still no proper hardware acceleration for nV cards, meaning when running in portrait mode, you'll see tearing when scrolling up & down (like on the forums here), & a laggy feel when using pulldown menus, etc.

Anyone who'd be willing to test that out in XP & Vista w/ their 8800?

Vista or XP with what drivers?

(And you didn't find any lagginess to things up & down in portrait vs. landscape?)

Using XP and haven't got an error yet.

Sometimes get a few overclocking artifacts because it's starting to heat up and need to get those A/C's put in soon. :p

of course it is *impossible* that those artifacts are drivers related

have you thought of lowering your OC ? ... at least in the meantime
--heat kills.

that would also "settle" whether it is OC'ing - or not ;)
