8800 Cooling: GT vs. GTS

Seems like most GT's with stock cooling are getting really hot. How much better is the stock cooling on the GTS models?
For about the same price, would you get a GT with a non-stock cooler or a GTS with a stock cooler?

gts cause its faster and already comes with a proper cooler that spits out how air to where is belongs : outside the case

If equal price it's a no brainer -- get the GTS. However, where can you find a GTS for $159?

just how much better is the cooling on the gts? say, from what i've read, the average temperature under load for a gt is 85c ...what's the improvement with the gts versions?
would the gts also require a different cooling solution for long term "health"?

My gts is 50c under load at 60% fan duty cycle, but thats mainly due to my ghetto cooling solution

I suppose if you bought a cheap 8800GT, you could also get a nice aftermarket cooler because of the savings... But then again if you spend money like that why didn't you get a 8800GTS in the first place?

so your saying a gts with stock cooler would be better than gt with after market one?

yes it wuold be faster and the cooler spits out the hot air outside the case

GTS has the advantage of what, 16 extra shaders? I think that's about it... but it's a little faster in practice. @ the same price, yeah gts with stock cooler is probably better than gt with aftermarket... but the gt with aftermarket is ~$30 cheaper after MIR here, so it's up for debate which is better then.

And higher core, shader, and memory clocks.

Unless you get an overclocked GT, which almost all of the Aftermarket cooled models are already. I was speaking mostly about architecture... if the architecture is the same, stock clocks are a matter of choice.

i use rivatuner to set my startup speeds to 40% and i run at 50C idle in a 70F room. 60-65C load with 90% fan speed in same 70F room.

If you were thinking of buying The Witcher (highly-rated RPG), see if Newegg still has the MSI GTS for $200 after rebate that includes it. The game almost erases the cost difference.

Newegg has the Gigabyte GTS + NWN2 for $240 after rebate. That makes the MSI a good buy. If you are out for a GTS and you like RPGs then the MSI is definitely the one to go for. If you can't find it at Newegg you can try at ZipZoomFly the price there is $210 after rebate.
