My current system is an Asus P5NE-SLI, with a 4300 CPU overclocked to 3.0 ghz. PSU is an Enermax 450w unit. I play mostly simulations, racing and flight sims, also do a fair bit of vidoe/photo work, but not much into shooting games. My primary display is a 20" wide screen LCD, with another 19" 4:3 LCD as secondary.

From what I read here and elsewhere moving to an 8800GT would be significant upgrade from my current 7600 video card. Will my system handle it, or will I be at the limits of my CPU and PSU, thus limiting the benefit? I find for a few of my games I cannot run at highest settings.

Thanks for any advice.

8800gt would work in your system.

Since you don't seem like a hard core gamer ,why not a 8800gs or 9600gt? Still 3 times faster then what you have.

it should not have any problem with new videocard.

it all comes down to price 8800gt for about $150

or gs or 9600gt for about $110

you will love all three cards imo

8800GT would be well matched in your system. With a 20" that'd give you room for high frame rates and AA/AF. I wouldn't bother going with one of the lighter variants as simulations are often some of the most demanding games out there. Also, I'd look at the 450W PSU as the first potential problem if you run into any, as my G80 8800GTS on a very similar system had problems booting until I started unplugging optical drives and fans connected to an older TrueBlue 480W.
