870 Inquirer article and nForce Production starts next week, is on schedule.. Apparantely 870 was supposed to support Xeon's and McKinely, but now because of the acquisition of Alpha that's changed and 870 will be a pure McKinley chipset. It's got, u ready for this, Dual Channel PC1600 DDR support, but though it's performance may be poor because it's using , MRHD and according to Anand's info from the Spring IDF, it is a DDR MTH, and as a result it will suffer most likely a severe performance penalty when using DDR and now once again RDRAM is the prefered option. As for nForce, apparantley that some mobo's won't come out for 2 months, but according to nVidia, there should be boards out late September early October.

Yeah sounds like no changes, it seems like that some mobo maker's are just having trouble but the bottom line is that there will be boards out in October, that's when OEM's will start advertising nForce systems (Hopefully including Dell;))

thats good, but i have a question (probably debated to death, but i dont know the answer):
is it worth getting an nforce with GF3 over AMD760 with GF3 and Santa Cruz / Live! 5.1? because i understand that as an integrated platform its great, but for people who want more?

Here's my take, first of all I've been under the impression that nForce's APU is better than any other add-in sound card out there (Including SB Live! and Santa Cruz), but I will admit that right now for those looking to get a GF3, it may not be the best option, but that may change because Crush 17/18 coming Q1'02 is going to have GF3MX core, the other issue which we will have to wait and see is how much of a performance increase is there with features like Steamthru, Twinbank (When not using GF2 MX video), and DASP (especially when using the Palominio based Athlon's that have a hardware prefech), all we can do is wait and see.
