I expect some of you wizz kids will think this an easy question, however, please be patient.
I have a P4p800-x mobo by Asus that I have just up[graded to a SATA hard drive ( maxtor 160gb )
Firstly I cannot seem to set the bios up in the recommended way. The manual says set as enhanced and sata but this leaves me with my dvd in the secondary ide controller set properly but nothing assigned to drive 1 or primary drive. When set this also has an erratic and slow boot sequence.
When I change the ide settings to comatable mode and the settings to secondary pata+sata the sata drive shows as the number 1 or primary drive and the dvd corectly as secondary, great you might say but this is not the setting according to the manual and the boot is still erratic and deadly slow.
I have spent many hours trawling the net trying to find and answer with no success but I am sure that someone here will have the answer.
