Do rebates ever work though?

Personally I've never had a rebate that I did not get. I follow instructions and do exactly what the rebates ask like putting the product's number on the envelope, or cutting out the UPC code from the packaging and making sure it is postmarked on time. However, there are others who had bad experiences with rebates. I'll just let each person decide on their own.

Nice, I saw that card before it had the MIR but it has no reviews. Can anyone confirm if it is any good? And btw, that cooler looks like the Nvidia 8 series cooler.

That's a crazy looking cooler!

I got the PowerColor x1950xt 512mb with the Aero cooler... The x1950xt's rock. Everything is smooth as glass.

Man, I wish I had some money laying around. This would be a nice, solid upgrade from my 7900GS.

no thanks, i really am getting tired of dual slot coolers..

i think the 2600xt still gets my vote since its under $110 and a single slot cooler ..

Nowdays with gigabit lan onboard and wireless USB keys, it's starting to get real tough to fill in 3 PCI slots leaving a lot of room for dual slot cards. But unfortunately for those that still require a single slot card it seems X1950Pro is about as fast as it gets at this point without reverting to watercooling your 8800GTX.

I've been biting my tongue for about two years now...from both of the only two people who reviewed this card at newegg:
heatsink is massive but also very quite
The crutch of the card was the fan/heatsink combination ,and this 1 has a very nice (and quite tooo)

Does anybody know how to spell "quiet" anymore?

OK, so maybe it's the new "teh" ;)

This card is recent as both of the reviews which date beginning of August, 2007. The thing 8800GTS 320mb is $90 more expensive and 8800GTS 640mb which is more acceptable for 1920x1200 is full $180 more. This makes this card a good value in the <$200 backet

Thanks for the heads up! I ordered one of these last night for a new build. After rebate at roughly $100 less than an 8800gts 320, it seemed like the way to go for me. I'll let you know how it is once I'm up and running.

Found out in another thread this pig actually a 1950Pro/1950XT hybrid. It's a 1950PRo PCB with a 1950XT chip, so the RAM is a little slower; 1400Mhz vs 1800Mhz :( Haven't found how well it OC"s yet.

Well, the Sapphire card is still $167 without any rebate. That one is a full blown X1950XT as far as I know, even though it has the default cooler.

you can find good video cards in the FS/TR forum, also.

1900XT OC'd to XTX speeds will offer a good show, 3rd party cooling will get you higher clocks

I dont think this will have any noticeable effect since the main performance advantages over X1950 Pro come from 512mb of ram and 16 pipes. Recall Anandtech's review of X1950XTX with 2000mhz memory (29% improvement) vs. X1900XTX with 1550mhz memory provided at most 8.5% at 2048x1536. For the most part though the advantage was between 3-5%. So you aren't giving up much.
