8600gts vs. 8800gts on a small monitor

I know that the 8800gts is a better card. However, I'm a cheap bastard and I'm planning on using my 17" LCD old flat panel with my upcoming build. That means that i'm going to be driving a resolution of 1280x1024. Would there be any benefit to getting an 8800gts over an 8600gts at that resolution? Could I get an even cheaper card? I'm looking to be able to run Bioshock, TF2, etc... on full at 1280x1024. And I don't care about future proofing because by the time I need to get a new monitor, a better card will probably be out anyways.

Yes. With the types of games listed, the 8600GTS rarely exceeds 30fps. The 8800GTS is perfect for that resolution. Of course, a year from now, even the 8800GTS at that resolution will most likely take the 8600GTS's performance.
