ArchAngel777 needs to wake up and smell the coffee here.

Simply put......CRYSIS.

Full DX10 and it comes out later this year (Q3). So DX10 games are NOT and I repeat, NOT 2 years away.

I don't like the smell of coffee... Actually, I do... Mmmm

Ok, well anyway, I am well aware of this game you call Crysis. In fact, I'd been following the company long before they were even a company! Imagine that paradox. It was just Yerli brothers. Anyway, the game is not a full DX10 game. Sure, it has some of the features but that is besides the point. Besides, Q3 release date? Release dates are about as reliable as a powerball ticket when it comes to having the correct "number". Another thing I would like to address is that there is no way in hell this card (8600 Ultra) is going to run Crysis with all the eye candy turned on, so it doesn't matter much. Personally, I think it will take nothing less than 8800GTX to enjoy the game.

We will just have to wait and see now shall we.

We dont even know if the "ultra" card even exists. Not to mention the fact that the pic of the 8600 series from the chinese site was simply a XFX 7300GT.

I think the 8600 series will be 128bit memory interface with GDDR4 memory for the faster version and GDDR3 for the lower end variants.

We could expect a March launch according to things, unless its delayed to April. (CJ at B3D said the designkit for G86/G84 are not yet given to the manufacturers so we could see a bit of delay).

So when ATI finally launches their high end cards, cards they are trying to sell to people which already bought their 8800's and are just fine at any resolution, any game - Nvidia will get the mid-range buyers before ATI can respond in kind once again.

I bet hector is wondering why the hell he bought ATI about now.

i'd take that bet.

acquiring ati was hardly based on when they would roll out the r600. ati was aquired for what would happen 4-5 years down the road, not this spring...

rollo was fun..

that being said, i'm not too excited about these parts. i'm sure they're nice and all, but my tastes have never fallen smack in the middle of mid-range. they've just never performed well enough. the 320mb 8800GTS makes sense to me tho.

I read that the 8600 chips are pin compatible with the 7600 and 6600 designs. That being the
case, I see little reason for any delay since the cards do not have to be designed from scratch.

Meh, I'm still on my 66GT!!

i hear ya. that will perfectly compliment my summer build...hopefully it will handle 1920x1200 in games with most of the eye candy turned up.
