Hi Everyone.

Just need some help finding out the true watt power supply the Nvidia 8600GT and 9600GT use as there is so much talk about the systems with a huge difference.

I currently have a Seasonic S12 430watt System running a

Intel Core Duo 2 E8400 3.0ghz
4x 1gig Sticks of DDR2
3x 1TB SATA 7200 Drives
Nvidia 8600GT Silent GPU

Is the Seasonic S12 430watts enough and if i get the Nvidia 9600GT would i need at least a 500w PSU

Using http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

It shows my systems is fine but when i read on other web sites it it tells me you need at least 550watts as the Nvidia 9600GT takes about 120-160watts

s12 430 watts is better than most 550w psu's. I have an antec ea 430 with a q6600 oc'd to 3.5 running seti 24/7 and the fan doesn't even spin up. You are nowhere close to maxing out that psu.

btw, a 9600gt doesn't draw 120-160w.

You should be fine with the S12-430W and a single 9600GT.

The 9600GT takes a single 6 pin PCI-E power plug, so theoretically it can draw up to 150W max (75W on 6 pin PCI-E, 75W through PCI-E slot). However, it is unlikely to draw that much, ever.
