Got this card recently on a 'Hot Deal' and installed the latest (Cat 2.2) drivers. Everything seemed fined until I tried playing current PC games (WarCraft III, IL2, GTA3, ...). The problem is massive amounts of artifacts regardless of game. 3DMark2001 results are 7203 after cold boot, and 2398 after a restart!? WTF?
Tonight I will probably swap card into the backup rig (BE6, P3 1G) to isolate and test.
Since I just got it, I might just go exchange it for another 8500DV. But I'd like know the true problem regardless.
PC is:
ABIT KR7A-RAID (using "Fail-Safe" bios settings until I clear this up)
AMD XP 1600+ (no OC)
8500DV (Retail, no OC)
