8500 shows flickering when scrolling-vid card problem?

When scrolling or in a light coloured screen, my display shows vertical dark banding moving from top to bottom. Sometimes more apparent than others. I run XP and default settings on the vid card. I used to think it was the monitor but did a swap this weekend to check and its in the card. It still has the retail bios and tried several different drivers over the last couple months.

I did a search at a couple sites and didn't see any consistant complaints about this so wondering if any other suggestions.

I checked the ATI site and will email their support next.

Let us know how you make out with ATI's E-mail support. I found that sometimes they answer you back and sometimes they don't.

quick but lame response from ATI, basically linked me to all kinds of info about different ATI products than the kind I specifically emailed about

told me to update drivers for every device & system on the mb!!

not real impressed with that answer so I swapped the vid card to an older BX system where the problem persisted so I emailed again

two days later I was told to fill out an rma form---odd thing, just built up a new system with Epox 8k9a2+ & an amd 2400XP and put the radeon in it, no banding!!!

I've no idea how I cured it but cured so far--pretty good response from ATI as far as I'm concerned, I could spend a couple bucks and rma it but wont

I have noticed similar behavoir with different 8500's and 9500'a. On a light background scrolling can cause a momentary shimmering of light and dark colored bands, almost like a slow refresh rate. It only lasts for a second or two, and it is hard to notice sometimes.
