my radeon 8500LE has 3.6 ns ram chips... 1/3.6 is 277mhz so this should run 275 ddr fine right? i had it running 275/275 absolutely fine earlier, so is it a good idea to flash the bios? anyone else done this?

does anyone have the flash utility? i dont know where to download it from.

In theory it should run at 275MHz, but it's no guarantee.
The RAM itself is theoretically capable of it but PCB design, voltage, and many others factors can come into play that could potentially limit the DRAM.
Run some stress tests, and play a few games and see if it exhibits and rendering errors or stability issues.

Most LE's are quite capable of running at 275/275 though.
If you want to overclock even further it'd be worth flashing to the retail BIOS as it raises the VCore as well as the deafult clockspeeds.
If your content with running it at 275/275 and it's already stable I wouldnt bother as the increased VCore wouldnt gain you anything but higher heat production, and power consumption if your card is already capable of 275/275.

yeah mine is an ATI built 8500 oem. its just came clocked at 250/250. i'm not sure if this makes it officially and LE, or just the LE. i remember back in the day i had a rage128 gl 75/75 and i flashed it to 100/110 , and it worked great because the memory timings were lowered.

oh well i played jedi knight 2 for a bit at 275/275 with power strip and it seemed stable , thats really all the speed i want, and i just found the flash utility on rage3d forums, so hopefully this works.

I also got R8500 LE retail. Flashed the bios to retail R8500 (non-LE). So it's running at 275/275 right now, and 290/295 when playing games.
No sweat! :D
