I am at 952 1.7V, i believe heat is keeping me from higher OC's. I have a SECC2 retail chip (slot1).

Will it be even worth the cost/risk of unpackaging my retail chip and buying a HSF, probably the Alpha P3125, to try to hit 995(runs in windows until temp rises) or 1054?

With only that small of a clockspeed boost I doubt it'd be worth buying a new fan even if you were guaranteed to hit 995 with one.

I have a duron 800 overclocked to 1055. I notice a big difference in games like quake 3 and in mpeg 4 encoding. i doubt you would be able to eek out much more speed than 1050mhz or so. why don't you just go with watercooling? you could probably hit 1400 that way. anyhow i hope this helps.

if you're struggling to get past x112fsb then I honestly think 124 or 133fsb speeds are out of the question! :)
what stepping chip have you got? can only suggest you raise your cpu voltage to 1.75-1.85V to see if you can get any more ot of that cpu.
btw I have one of those cpus, a cBO stepping & it runs 1020MHz at 1.75V with a gorb.

It might be worth it then, but if your having problems just trying to get past 952MHz, then I think it unlikely you'll be getting to 1054Mhz, very unlikely.
