Hey
I'm awaiting Fedex with my Asus P4PE. I've got an Epox 4G4A+ 845G motherboard right now running Windows XP Pro. Will I need to reinstall the OS on the P4PE? It would be great if I could install the P4PE without having to reinstall the OS.

I did this going from an 845E to an 845G before with no problems.

Thanks

I would re-install WinXP. My experience has been there's a 50/50 chance it will find all the new motherboard devices and it will work without re-installing WinXP.

BTW, just did the same upgrade. The I845PE is even better that the the Epox 4GA4A+.

Make sure you backup anything you can't replce and give it a go, if it doesn't workout you have to do the re-install anyways right ;)

Well it did work. I do prefer a fresh install also, but I just did a reinstall last week (before I decided to get the new mobo).

Wow this board seems great so far (knock on wood). P4 2.66@3000, 150FSB 400DDR (2x512MB Corsair XMS PC3200) using default voltages. Ran an hour of Prime95 with no errors so far, will let it run tonight into tomorrow.

I also got an Antech Nexus panel, which looks cool but is kind of lame. The display isn't viewable at all unless you're looking at it straight on. Looking down a bit its completely unreadable. The temp monitors work ok, CPU temp is about -2C from what MBM5 displays. Also one major beef is that the "CPU Fan Speed" dial won't work if your CPU fan is powered by a Molex power connector. The fan power cord on the Nexus uses the motherboard's CPU fan power connector. Since I have a fan that specifically instructed me not to plug it into the motherboard, I'm SOL.

You win some, you lose some.
