845PE/DDR333 versus 850e/PC1066

From what I've been able to learn, the 850e is the last Intel chipset supporting RDRAM. So PC1066 RDRAM is probably as far as that technology will go.

The next Intel 845 chipset will be the 845PE (also the GE which is a PE + built-in video). This chipset will be adding support for DDR333.

So, the question in my mind is: What is a better solution on a P4 2.26Ghz/533?

A) Intel 845PE chipset with DDR333 memory?

or

B) Intel 850e chipset with PC1066 RDRAM memory?

Another consideration would be an 845PE/DDR333 versus 850e/PC800, but I don't know why anyone would spend the money to get a P4/533Mhz FSB and then settle for PC800 only.

1066 > DDR333

i850 (533) > i845G (533) ~= i850 (400) > i850e(533)> i845G (400) > i845e (400)

RDRAM beats DDR333 at 1066 easily but at no small price difference

The 845PE will perform more or less, identically to the 845G whemn both are using DDR333, and right now, 845G is about 5-8% or so behind 850e+PC1066, so I would expect 845PE to be behind 850e+PC1066 by a similar marign. It's Dismissable, but still a little high for me. I'd get SiS 648 with DDR333, that is in all but 2 benchys are >5% behind 850E+PC1066, which is niot noticeable

Thats all true but when i look at price difference between 'Quality' DDR333 (somethign running 2-2-2-5?) and 1066RDRAM is not that much right? Also with that new Asus deal coming (the one where RDRAM4200 is bundled with mobo), wouldnt price different be reduced even more? plus DDR RAM prices seem to have gone up a lot over the last week or so.

Akaz <-------- Also cant decide between SiS648 w DDR333 and 850e w 1066 (Purchase time frame is late Aug/Early Sep)

Any one knows when the 845PE chipset will be out?
Will it be available with 2.4 or 2.53 gig ?
When is the next price cut after the 845PE introduction?

Fern3, the question is mainly this.

For a 256 megabyte configuration, are you willing to pay an extra 120$ for 2% extra performance? No. I thought not. :D Spend the money on something else. The place where the i850E reigns supreme is high memory capacity situations (No intel chipset outside of the i850 family supports 2 gigs of RAM, unless you want SDRAM) and future performance, where you have possibly 3.2GHZ+ processors that need more than DDR333 can provide.
