What is your monitor's resolution? Any specific games in mind?

Are you planning to overclock?

Where are you buying these parts from?

128GB is not going to be enough space in the long term. At this budget, I would forgo the SSD and just grab a 1TB basic hard disk like WD10EZEX. Or a 500GB WD Blue if you can find one for cheap. Seagate or Toshiba equivalents should be fine too.

I would also get an Intel i3 rather than FX-6300 for a gaming PC. If you can afford an i5, all the better; however, the graphics card takes precedence, and if you're gaming at 1080p, R9 280 3GB is the minimum I would buy at this point for AAA titles.

You'll definitely want to buy the case and the power supply separately. Power supplies bundled with cases tend to be poor quality.

I like most of that except the SSD. The V4 is a SATA2 drive. I'd go for either the Transcend SSD370 or the OCZ Arc 100. To answer the next question...

There, I was just aiming for a crucial branded drive at a good price point, but definitely a good observation.

I also tend to think the money spent on 16GB RAM could be better used elsewhere.

I'd agree, I originally started with 8, but after meeting all the other specs figured to just make that match what he was after in the OP.

Based on the prices stated here, I'm going to assume this is Canadian dollars. These prices aren't even within the realm of possibility if purchased in the US market.

I think we'll need to get a bit more clarity from the OP before providing a lot more guidance, other than stating clearly that the FX6300/AM3+ is the wrong choice versus a Core i3/H97.

Ah, OK. That makes more sense.

I suggest you substitute as follows:

(1) the Core i3-4160: http://www.centrecom.com.au/intel-core-i3-4160-36ghz-3mb-cache-lga1150

(2) And an ASRock H97 motherboard: http://www.centrecom.com.au/asrock-h97m-matx-motherboard

You'll save over AUD$50 and have a better system. It may seem counter-intuitive that an Intel dual-core can beat an AMD six-core, but the AMD really works more like a slow three-core processor, while the Intel is an incredibly-fast dual-core with Hyperthreading.

With the money you save, upgrade to a Radeon R9 270X: http://www.centrecom.com.au/sapphire-radeon-r9-270x-dual-x-oc-2gb-dvi-i-dvi-dhdmidp

Now you have a faster, quieter, more efficient system for a bit less money than the original. Also note, as others have mentioned, that 128GB SSD will fill up fast. If you don't have many games/media to load onto it, that's fine, otherwise, you'll need to use a larger drive (either hard drive or SSD depending on budget).

That's a US build, so it's not terribly relevant to the OP.

EDIT: I see this has been addressed.
