8400GS versus onboard ATI Radeon HD 4200

I am trying to decide whether to use the onboard HD 4200 on a kids computer for kid's compute rgames like Spore, Kung Fu Panda, etc, or whether a standalone 8400GS would add much more. Games will be played at low to medium resolution.

Theyd probably be pretty identical honestly. HD4200 would probably be less heat and power, but no dedicated RAM.

well there different ones made. some had 8sp while others had 16. the 16sp should certainly be a little faster than HD4200.
