If I have the extra cash, is a higher OC reachable on the 8500 compared to the 8400?

I've heard the limit on the 8400 is like 4.2GHz with really good cooling, whats the limit on the 8500?

If you're overclocking then go with the E8400. They will overclock the same, last time I checked.

i would glady pay 20 more for the e8500 (higher multiplier can be useful for older motherboards that cant hit really high fsb speeds) and also try to grab one with the new E0 stepping.

Take the E8500

Right off the bat its 320mhz faster (160mhz x 2) and OC'ing although very likely is not a guarantee

Don't believe all the hype. Just because a handful of chips have hit over 4GHz, doesn't mean every 8400 out there will get there.
