I was looking for a video card with HDMI out that can play back full HD videos/avi (let's say h264 encoded) and Blurays. Can 8400GS do it? its available for $10 AR at newegg today. Also how much more better/powerful is it compared to Intel's HD1000? The processor is G530 or G620

Video playback wise its worse. Not sure gaming wise. But with only 16 cuda cores and 64bit DDR3. I would actually put my money on the HD1000.

So basicly, avoid getting it and use the iGPU in your CPU.

the best option would be a HD 3000 series. i used a HD 3650 512MB for FULL HD Blu-ray Playback and Blu-ray 3D Playback and Full 7.1 surround sound no problems. or like ShintaiDK said use the IGPU

I have the 8400gs as a backup card when I am inbetween cards, like sold the old one and new one is on its way :) The 8400Gs is pretty useless for anything. All it can do is let you use windows, browse, etc. maybe play music and standard divx/xvid videos.
