So I have a 128gb Samsung 830 SSD, and am wondering if a 250gb 840 EVO is a worthy upgrade. Is it faster than the 830? I had trouble understanding some of the ananand review.

Speed doesn't actually matter, you will never notice much difference at all between different SSD's in everyday use. You probably wouldn't even notice whether the SSD was using 3gb/s or 6gb/s bandwidth most of the time.

FWIW your Samsung 830 128GB is a little slower: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/533?vs=965. Especially the difference in write performance is quite staggering

If you need more capacity, it's a great upgrade.

If your 830 is running fine don't waste your money on another SSD.

This.....

Other than benchmarks, and there isn't even a huge difference in those, I would forget it. Definitely not a 'real life' game changer when it comes to speed that you can feel.

I've got 2 - 256GB 830's in a RAID 0 config and I can't tell the difference between RAID and a single drive running.....other than benches.

I know I won't notice a difference! I just want to be sure it isn't worse at anything, besides the TLC.

Ah, I can't imagine that it would be worse. It should be better to have the extra size. One thing that I don't know is if the 128GB 830 (that you listed) is slower than the 256GB 830 (that I have)....which might be the case.

TLS vs MLC aside, it will not be worse. If anything, it will be as fast (or faster) and larger.

need more size... upgrade larger... lol... i am thinking of getting another 500gig 840 to R0 into a 1TB steam drive.

need more speed.... dont bother... u wont really notice it... i rarely notice any difference between R0 2xSSD's vs my 1 single 500giger.
