I got a maxtor two years old and its starting to fail...Thats unheard of.. A few times I got a whinning sound then a click followed by a crash...When I try to reboot it does that before entering windows. This is on both hard drives. Im not very sure its both HDs though. First time it happened, I removed my slave HD(also a maxtor) and it rebooted the first try prior to 15 tries booting with the slave connected. Now after the slave is gone, this crash happened again. Can it be my computer running at awkward speeds? i believe its 5.5 multiplier times 83..I get 458 mhz.

high bus speeds are more stressful on components. But your drives seem to have taken the beating for a whiile I would go to maxtor web site and download their drive testing software. if it is bad it will give you an error code, use this Code to produce an RMA number via their website. You still have one year left on your waranty, so I would be glad if I where you that it is dieing now and not later.
