i have a major problem. my pc wont shutdown...or restart for that matter. i think its the mobo. i cant even get into cmos. i used the 98 patch but no luck. is this intel vc820 crap or am i doing something wrong?

i have that setup and i don't have any problem. maybe your power supply? bad mobo?

what setup do you have? i just put mine together. its the package just recently on sale at tigerdirect. is your's the same? things seem fine. its just this damn shutdown problem!

oh by the way, do yoou have the p3 with the rdram? if so, do you get a the "windows has detected and unknownd device" window? thanks!

no i don't use a slotket, just a slot 1 p3 533

well, i have vc820, 128mb pc800, p3 533, sb live, geforce, ibm 27g, dvd, etc.....

well, what hardware are you talking about? when you install win98 it should say hardware detected and tell you what it is. definitely you have to install the chipset driver as well as the ultra ata driver. they can be d/l from the intel site. beside that, nothing special was done to my system
