815e mobo -Temps too high

osage

Just switch to and MSI 815e Pro I had been running a Asus P3V4X. Same P3 650, same Alpha pep66 w/YS tech 27 cfm fan. My temps in bios went up to 43-45 cpu, and MSI PC Alert reports the same temp within about 1-2 degress.
The mobo temps are 27-29 about what they have always been. I applied fresh Artic Silver to the chip and HS, I have removed and remounted HSF 3 times with no significant change.
In the past on the P3V4X mobo with same HSF and cpu my temps in bios were 31-32 cpu 27-29 mobo.
These temps are at default voltage 1.65 and speed, this is higher than previously when using 1.9v to run 975.
Anyone have any idea why the temp seem to be so high. Is the board just reporting the wrong temps, or has the alpha suddenly lost it's ability to draw heat??
Any ideas ???

I have also tried my Gorb, with about the same results, temps are 10-15 degress higher than when I used the same Gorb on the P3V4X .

Still have the same 3 case fans, 2 drawing air in front and rear with top fan drawing air out.

My P3 550e@770 reads about 41 to 44 cpu. In my Asus P2B it was 10 - 20 lower. I had the same problem with another MSI board. They seem to read higher in the temps.

The problem was that I had tweaked the clip on the Alpha, and it would not sit properly on the chip. Rebent the clip and remounted the HSF and all is well now. 32 degrees cpu idle 1.85v I can live with that.

thanks for the input.
