80W peltier questions

The peltier with lowest effect that I could find was a 80W peltier.

Now Could I use this peltier together with my slk-900U? I don't need zub zero cooling, actually I'd prefer 20C (close to roomtemp)

It's just that now I'm running my tbred B xp2200+ @ 2ghz 40C Idle and it feels a lot (slk-900U, 40cfm)

A peltier of sufficient wattage will cool a certain amount from hotside to coldside. When the power starts to approach the max power ratings there is a slope that is fairly steep that the peltier will become less and less efficient until the junction shuts down and then dumps backwards all its heat (instant processor cookage).

I think an 80W peltier would push too close to that junction to be on the safe side. Even if it was enough to stay away from the danger zone you need to realize that your heatsink is now having to handle twice as much heat and may make the hot side so hot that the cold side is no different than without the peltier.

You also know that the peltier needs a cold plate (a piece of copper, thicker the better), so mounting will be need to be re-engineered by you.

I haven't heard of too many positive examples of peltier use without watercooling, but if you wanna try let us know how it goes.
