I currently have a SK-7 w/Panaflo H1A. I was thinking about getting
a 92mm Panaflo and making my own adapter. I have access to a
toolroom and mfg it would be no prob. Would an appreciable
temperature drop be realized with this or am I just wasting time?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Nothing so stuns the intelligensia as the obvious.
Thanks Thugs!

BTW don't count me as part of the "intelligensia"

actually the whole "fan shroud" or "downsize tunnel" thing for 80mm to 92mm fans doesnt really work anyways ~ just slap a 92mm fan on it somehow and see how it does ;) :)

I did the same thing with my pal8045 back when I air cooled. I wouldn't say that I saw a huge difference in temperature so much as equivalent temperatures with much quieter operation. I even made an 80-to-120mm fan shroud, which is totally overkill. Remember, a duct is going to work better with sucking v. blowing due to dead areas on the fan, air pressure.

Use aluminum roof flashing, very cheap and available at Home Depot or Lowes in the roofing department. Heat ducting is too thick to work with; the aluminum can be scored with a razor / box cutter and then gently flexed along that line to break it apart. It makes for easy and clean cuts. PM me with questions. :)

Aluminum flashing is great for making ducts. Look towards the bottom of this page for some pics of a 90º angle 80mm-60mm duct that I made:

I find it easy to just use scissors to cut the flashing and aluminum tape to put it together. I recently made a 92mm-80mm adaptor, no pics yet but it works.
