80mm fan for socket 478???

I have an alpha pal 8045 for socket a, wish I could fit that to my socket 478 mobo. Ahh well. In the very least, I'd like to swap the stock fan with my low noise papst. I sense the normal 60mm-80mm adapters won't work on the stock intel cooler. Any recommendations on this front???

how about a 7v mod?
or adding a rheostat?

adaptors probably wont work since its round.....how is the original fan strapped on? (i dont have a retail intel heatsink to inspect here lol)

is teh fan on retal intel 60mm or 80mm?
