80mm case fans

In my experience loud small fans are a lot whinier/annoying than large fans of the same db.

How loud are you comfortable going? And what constitutes decent airflow for you?

If price is no option, and you want PWM noctua makes a very nice 80mm fan... They want $17 bucks per though. :|

If that is a little much CoolerMaster makes one for $10, but it's a sleeve fan so it will die much quicker, and how you position it could hasten it.

GELID Solutions makes a pretty good 80mm. It has a nice hydro dynamic bearing and only costs $9. It's max speed is 2000rpm however.

I need a couple intake 80mm intake fans for my HAF XB. I currently have some MassCool and Kingwin fans currently(they were free 🙂). The Kingwin ones are quite but don't push much air and the MassCool pushes air but are loud.

The only thing I don't like about Nocutla is the horrendous color scheme. What are your thoughts on the Silenx EFX-08-12 or Nexus SP802512L-03?

Those are fine, the Nexus doesn't mention what kind of bearing it has so I would assume it has the cheapest sleeve bearing they could source, and they are both single speed fans.

If you are considering those I would take a second look at the gelid for about the same price. It has a nice bearing that should last a long time and it is variable speed.

I have the HAF XB case and I put in two Noctua NF-R8 fans. They come with nice extension cables which will allow me to slip the cables under the PSU and up the side to connect to the fan controller on the H100i.

I also got a dust filter which I placed between the fan and the case.

The gaping ventilation holes in the sides and back of the case annoyed me so I got some extra mesh cut it to size and attached it to the inside of the case with magnets.

I've used 2 of these Enermax 80mm fans for 2 years in my case, plugged straight into the mobo running at 100% all the time, and I've never heard them. My HDD spins louder than these. You could probably find some that push more air, but I swear they're absolutely silent, and 8 bucks apiece.

Can HAF XB use 120's on the front?

2x 120 or 140mm fans on the front(or 4 with the right screws or a radiator), 2 80mm fans on bottom back, 1 120mm top back, and 1 200mm on top.

I currently have all of these slots filled. My Seidon 240M is currently mounted with 4 120mm fans to the front of the case(2 stock case fans and the 2 fans that came with the 240M). I am looking to replace the 5 120mm fans with CM JetFlo or black Noctua fans once they actually become available on retailer sites.
