Why don't you both do a run and tape it??? Not that I condone any of that kind of stuff. The cars are fairly close in speed that a driver mistake could win it. I think the 911 might be SLIGHTLY faster but just a hair.

update: He ended up buying another new Yukon late last year. He wanted a sports car but she wanted a large utility vehicle to go camping and drive down to their Florida beach condo. But he still wanted a sports car so he called me late last week to look for a car. We ended up deciding on an used 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo. We finalized the deal yesterday and he and I went on a roadtrip to buy the car and bring it home.

pics of 996 Turbo

Was that a Tiprtronic automatic trans I spotted?

Oh hell no!

Supposedly the 2009 automatic is greatly improved but Porsche has never been known to have produced a good automatic trans.

any reason why they can't get DSG from VW?

For 2009 - they did ~ Why I stated it was greatly improved for 2009.

We plan to. He has been talking smack about how he's going to be faster. Unless he revs it up and build the boost before launch, I don't think he's going to be faster. Even then, it's going to be very close.

Yeah, my younger cousin and I tried to talk him out of it. I found a nice manual one with the x50 package which has the upgraded turbos from the factory for only little more but it was no use. But at least now we have him hooked and he'll buy lot more toys.

I agree.

Indeed!

He has everything else so roll with an exige :D

The 996 Turbo is a sweet car, but the stock wheels are dog rubbish! He needs to put on 997 Turbo wheels STAT! £2k maintenance on a 996 Turbo a year mate...:(

He got an awesome buy!

What would I buy? A Toyota Tacoma with the V6, normal cab. And a cap for the bed. But for your friend... BMW 325i?
