80GB Mp3 players?

Unfortunately the bad's definitely outweigh the HD size..

The bad:
Bulky; somewhat clunky interface; can't sort by artist, album, or genre; occasional pops and clicks between tracks.

I guess hoping for Apple or Creative to release one is my best bet.

The only other one I can think of is the Neuros II; however, that has been discontinued and is also is very large. I have the Neuros HD 20GB and it's a brick.

i'm not sure how this compares to other large HD based players (like the Neuros) but you could get the 60GB iPod....pretty close to 80GB and it looks good too.

I mean if the are making a player big enough to hold a 2.5" drive then they really need to just release a 120GB model. I know that Apple will release an 80 iPod even before an 80GB 1.8" drive becomes commerically available. You have to have the highest capacity your chosen form factor can handle.

One of my suitemates has the 60GB iPod Photo and it's only a little thicker than the normal iPods. It's still much smaller than my music brick (Neuros).

yup i have the 60gb ipod and its pretty sleek considering its gigantic storage. it seems that toshiba has come out with a new 80gb HDD so i guess we would see a new 80gb ipod in a couple months. expect to pay about 600 bucks for it though 😀

Yeah, I already have a 40GB Nomad Zen Xtra. I don't really feel like getting a new mp3 player unless it is at least double the size.

I actually have two 80gb MP3 players for sale ... I am gonna list them in the for sale forum. One is a Zen Xtra ... the other is a Nomad Jukebox 3. They perform beautifully!!!! In my sig in the link ... but I am gonna post listings in the appropriate forum. Thanks!

i can't find the link right now, but it's real easy as you take out the screws from the back and inside the front cover, remove HD, and insert new HD, and reload new Firmware u can d/l from creative

You can do something similar with the Neuros, but it will only recognize up to 80GB for some reason (it uses FAT32). Here's a guide on how to replace it. Even if you don't have a Neuros, maybe it'll help someone figure out the one for the Zen.

Technically, you can add a 120gb HD in your Xtra, but it acts sketchy on anything over 80gbs. I know several folks that have replaced the standard 30-40-60gb hard drives with 100gb and over and have horror stories of songs, albums and artists missing after they passed the so-called 16,000 track limit. A lot has to do with tags too ... making them short as possible, but the most tracks I have put on a hard drive is a lil more than 10K tracks. If you shorten the tags, it may not be as bad, but the firmware written by Creative stops at 16,000 tracks. And knowing Creative, they will never ever release firmware to support something that big. The only player that can handle it are the X-Clef family of players. So, the closest to it is an 80gb HD, seeming it's the closest to their 60gb one. Check out nomadness.net for all your Nomad needs ... I had 3 80gb units and all of the work flawlessly.

Thanks for the info. I won't go higher than 80GB then, because as it is now with the 40GB one I am already at about 6000 songs.
