80GB 7200rpm drive: Seagate/WD/Maxtor? WHICH??

I just got a 80GB, 7200RPM Western Digital drive from OfficeMax B&M for $199 - $80 MIR. You can still get one if you hurry.

HK$1150 - Seagate
HK$1280 - WD
HK$1400 - Maxtor

divide by 7.8 for US$

no such deals as you guys get in the states 🙁

I wouldn't buy WD anymore, and i used to be a big fan! - I don't think they are what they used to be, they used to have a great rep.

out of the 3, I'd buy Maxtor, Seagate and WD in that order.

Seagate is good, but lately I am loving Maxtors including mine at home.

Here is a place that might be some help. Go to the database and read the review for the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X 80GB drive. When reading the review of the Maxtor, don't pay too much attention to the results for the Seagate Baracuda IV because that test is with acoustic management on. They redid the review of that drive with AAM turned off and it performed better. Anyway, just a heads-up on some reviews of those drives. Good luck.
