i have decided that i have put up with this cpu fan for long enough (i have the 36cfm fan that comes with the ocz gladiator). i dont want my temps to increase, but i need a reprieve from this noise. have any of you guys used one of those adapters to put an 80mm fan on your cpu? i've done some reading, and they seem to be effective. i dont expect any temp decrease, just a noise decrease. i want to know any practical considerations that i need to be aware of before i buy one. thanks! btw, here is the one i am probably going to get.

Go look in the cases & cooling forum - this was discussed in at least 2 threads around the end of last week. Also had some links to a number of companies selling 80-to-60 and 92-to-60 adapters. Keep in mind that these adapters only work if you have the type of fan that screws into your heatsink - they don't work with the heatsinks that 'clip' on their fans.

BTW, I'm planning on doing the same and haven't decided if I want to go 80mm or 92mm. Also don't know if there is enuf space between the rear of my case and one of my processors.
